A chorionic gonadotropin (CG) assay is a blood test used to assess for pregnancy. The test measures the level of CG, a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. CG levels can be used to confirm pregnancy, determine how far along a pregnancy is, and assess the risk of miscarrying.
